Indian Harbor Beach City Council Meeting

Come stand with us as we ask the city to vote on three resolutions:

  • A resolution to end the current policy of widening the beach and burying the reef.

  • A resolution for our Cities to independently test and monitor the quality of material being placed on our beach now and in the future.

  • A resolution to incorporate more education and protection of the reef in city activities and policies which focus on the value it adds for the community.

Hands Across The Reef

If you have Facebook please visit this link there and click 'Going' http://www.facebook.com/events/1460033157406079

We are coming together to join hands on at low tide(11:30am) on our beach in front of our reef to send a message loud and clear: 'Don't bury the Reef! Save the Beach AND The Money!' We love our beach the way it is, and together with our friends and neighbors we stand united.

Starting at 10 am we will be hanging out listening to music and eating snacks. For anyone who would like to learn more about this destructive project, and what we can all do to change it. We will be easy to find, just follow the signs.

At 10:30 we are going gather round and have people tell their own stories about a beach and reef that have been the heart of this community for over 60 years. We will be announcing guest speakers soon.

At 11:15 we will begin to spread down the beach, joining hands, forming a human chain. Low tide is at 11:34am and the reef will be plainly visible behind us. This will be a big event and we will have local media coverage. It sends a clear message that we are ready to stand together and fight to protect our hometown beach and reef.

Afterwards I highly recommend checking out the Rick Salick Pro/Am Surf Contest and Festival in Cocoa Beach. Many of us are going up there for fun in the sun :)
